The Wine:
Low cropped and hand harvested from 20-year-old vines of MV6 Pinot Noir clone from a selective section of E Block, rows 24-34, this wine represents the very best Pinot Noir this vineyard produces.
Hand-picked 2nd March 2021. Fruit was partially destemmed as whole berries, with 50% as whole bunches. A short cold soak prior to fermentation and on skins for 14 days. The wine was pressed to French oak (25% new) for malolactic conversion on lees and in oak for 10 months. 140 dozen produced.
This Pinot shows plenty of detail with a variety of spices, earth, red berry fruits including cranberry and pomegranate. The palate is silky with blue and red forest berries, woodsy undergrowth notes and complex texture where the tannins carry well offering a mineral chalky finish.
